“We’ve been working with Corey since 2008 on our waterfront home in Benicia. Corey is the third designer I have worked with over the years on different homes and she is our favorite by far. Corey understood the vision for our house immediately and has done a miraculous job of bringing it to light. She has completed all of our projects on time. She has always shown respect and concern for our budget and provided a million dollar look.
When disputes have come up with vendors or contractors, as they always do, she has taken care of them with a smile and minimum fuss – and with a good result for us, her clients. We have always felt that she is looking out for our best interest.
In short, Corey possesses all of the design skills and resources you can expect from a professional as well as a sunny, friendly personality which makes her a pleasure to work with. I hope that pleasure will be yours.”

We’re thrilled that our decision, taken in a leap of faith, to work with Corey paid off so spectacularly. In the course of our marriage, we’ve lived in three apartments, two townhouses, and a suburban house. For all of our earlier abodes, we never had the opportunity to start with a clean slate, until we relocated to the west coast. When we committed to purchase, pre-construction, a 2500 sq. ft. condo unit with an open floor plan and wall of glass facing Mt. Diablo, we recognized that we needed to work with a pro who could guide us, keep us from making mistakes, and ultimately bring to reality our vision of a modern New York City loft, albeit in Walnut Creek. Initially, there was a “feel out” period where we exchanged ideas, explored alternatives, Knocked heads” and ultimately reached a shared vision. Implementing the vision was a long layered 2.5 year process. Corey welded a steady hand and kept our impatience under control. At times I’d balk at ideas, e.g. do we really need a soffit with perimeter lighting in my office or do we really have to hardwire motorized shades prior to drywall or Le Grand switches? But in retrospect, I’m happy that I deferred, time and again, to Corey’s judgement. It turns out that her seemingly “far out” ideas were based on her experience and intimate knowledge of her craft. She is a true artisan and her working partners, i.e. cabinet makers, electricians, and custom furniture fabricators, were also artisans. They march to her orders and follow specifications to the letter. Amazingly, with the trick of the trade, Corey turned what in the builder’s plans was bare bones condo into a work of art. One of our favorite rooms is the cozy third bedroom/media/office. It went from a small box to an incredible accomplishment by Ms. Schulz. The final product speaks for itself! Our unit is unique and, quite frankly, “breathtaking.” I can’t imagine how we could have reached our goal without Corey.

I highly recommend Design Haus for your remodeling projects. I worked with designer Corey Schulz from Design Haus on two of my remodeling projects. The first project was to replace my hall cabinets, which were old and outdated, and the other project was to remodel my guest bathroom. Corey was instrumental on both projects by not only giving me her expert design ideas but also helping pick out the materials for the remodel and hiring the contractors. I recently consulted Corey on another project that I am working on to remodel my fireplace. As always, I appreciate her input on the project and design ideas.

Cory Schulz assisted me in shopping for a bedroom set. Before I arrived, she had marked about 30 pages from various catalogs. She had selected the materials, colors, and scale I requested. The photos were fabulous and gave me a very good idea of how the furniture would look and function. It will be a challenge to narrow down my choices amount so many beautiful selections.
Excellent Service !!
Corey Schulz goes the extra mile to help with your home projects. She helped me earlier in 2017 with window treatments and I was impressed with her diligence and concern for my particular project.

I worked with Corey Schulz on a decorating project for my master bedroom. Corey is very talented. She really gets my style and was able to help me achieve the look that I wanted – traditional but not fussy. She helped with new pieces for the bedroom and also helped me incorporate some old pieces that had been in my family. I was so pleased with the result that I asked her to help me spiff up 2 other bedrooms in the house, and they look fantastic! Corey is a true professional and also a joy to work with. We shared a lot of Starbucks and many laughs in our collaboration. Thank you Corey for your expertise and patience!

Corey is by far one of the best in her field. She was able to turn around a project for me in less than 2 months. We were able to go from seeding the idea with colors and pieces I liked to full-blown build out. Not only does Corey know how to get it done from a quality perspective, but she is attentive and communicative as well. I highly recommend her.
Corey Schulz, a native of Auburn, Alabama, began her career in 1976 under the apprenticeship of B.C. Takahashi, a Japanese designer who recruited the UCLA student during a campus job fair. The internship landed her in Hong Kong at 29 Conduit Road. Projects extended to working in Japan and Europe.
1978-1983 the young designer set up a modest design studio at 169 St. Joseph, Belmont Shore in Southern California, relocating to Northern California 1984.
As a recognized leader in residential interiors, Ms. Schulz style is Transitional, California Cottage and Country Estates. She integrates sustainable elements while remaining true to her classic and timeless sense of design. That was to change in 2014.
Japan being the originator of minimalism, the challenge to depart from her traditional roots to focus on sharp geometric shapes and asymmetry was a no-brainer. Post completion, the residence evolved into an elegant modern harmony of space and light. Clients delighted, and her connection to minimalism was forged.
Ms. Schulz is an ardent promoter of design interns to work abroad as she did, thus gaining the advantage of the historical development of architecture and technical implications of styles throughout time.
