Corey Schulz, a native of Auburn, Alabama, began her career in 1976 under the apprenticeship of B.C. Takahashi; a Japanese design firm, who recruited the UCLA student during a campus job fair. The internship landed her in Hong Kong at 29 Conduit Road. Projects took her to Japan, Thailand and Europe.
In 1978-1983 the young designer set up a modest design studio at 169 St. Joseph Street in Belmont Shore, Southern California. She relocated to Northern California 1984.

Style preferences:
As a recognized leader in residential interiors, Ms. Schulz shows a strong style emphasis in Transitional to California Cottage and Country Estates. She integrates sustainable elements while remaining true to her classic and timeless sense of design.
2014-2017 growth spurts. During a project for NYC clients, she began a love affair with minimalism When retained to develop concepts for their Walnut Creek residence.
Since Japanese design is the very basis for minimalism, the challenge to depart from traditional design to focus on sharp geometric shapes and asymmetry was a no-brainer. Post completion, the residence became an elegant modern harmony of space and light. Her connection was forged.
Ms. Schulz is an ardent promoter of students, to travel abroad to gain the advantage of the historical development of architecture and technical implications of styles throughout time.
“I was blessed with the ability to live it, thus, “learn by doing” in a field I love! That’s amazingly wonderful. Passing it on to the next generation is what counts; I believe it’s the reason why I was blessed in the first place. When I get a call out of no-where from an intern I haven’t seen in 25 years, and she says “you changed my life” there’s nothing more satisfying and humbling than that.”

With three decades experience I share with you the successes and lessons learned in helping my clients find that perfect balance of space, proportion, color and texture.

Our combined goal is to reflect your personality, the aspirations for your home or office, and create that environment that allows you to thrive. I listen to you, I work side-by-side with you, and together we create a living or working space that fills your needs.

Our combined efforts may focus on a settee, a quiet nook, a room or a whole house or office. The size of the endeavor matters less than achieving the feel you want. It may be a sanctuary to relax, a space to share with loved ones and friends or a professional venue that allows you to achieve your best work.

Remember a space is just a space until you imbue it wit h personality. That’s my mission. Together we make the magic happen.
